DESCRIPTION
VIDOPRA DSR is a combination medication used to treat gastrointestinal conditions associated with excessive acid production and impaired gastric motility. It contains:
Pantoprazole (40 mg): A proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that reduces the production of stomach acid by blocking the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system in the gastric parietal cells.
Domperidone (30 mg SR): A prokinetic and antiemetic that enhances gastrointestinal motility and prevents nausea, bloating, and vomiting by blocking dopamine receptors in the gut and brain.
Together, they offer dual action relief—reducing acidity and promoting faster gastric emptying.
SIDE EFFECTS
Most side effects are mild and transient. Common side effects may include:
Headache
Dizziness
Diarrhea or constipation
Abdominal pain
Dry mouth
Flatulence
Nausea
Fatigue
Rare but serious effects:
Long-term use may cause Vitamin B12 deficiency or magnesium deficiency
Breast tenderness or galactorrhea (due to domperidone)
Elevated liver enzymes (in rare cases)
QT prolongation (especially in high-risk patients with domperidone)
INDICATION
VIDOPRA DSR is indicated for:
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
Acid reflux
Heartburn
Peptic ulcers
Non-ulcer dyspepsia
Nausea, bloating, and fullness associated with gastric discomfort
Erosive esophagitis
Conditions where delayed gastric emptying is present
IMPORTANT NOTICE
Take VIDOPRA DSR before meals, preferably in the morning.
Swallow the capsule whole; do not crush or chew.
Inform your doctor if you have a history of heart problems, liver disease, or electrolyte imbalance.
Use with caution during pregnancy and lactation—only under medical supervision.
Avoid alcohol, as it can worsen acidity and reduce effectiveness.
Long-term use should be monitored with periodic tests (like magnesium or B12 levels if needed).
Domperidone should not be used in people with prolonged QT interval or underlying heart disease without medical advice.
